Urban Sights of Arabia
Between 1970 and 2010, the urban population of the Middle East Region more than quadrupled and is set to more than double again over the next 40 years. Current urbanisation in the region is driven by economic development, migration to oil-rich countries, drought and conflict with the importance of these causes varying by sub-region.In this gallery, I will be sharing photographs taken on various trips to the Middle East documenting lives in densely populated cities. Urban life dictates the direction our modern world is taking. It serves as the source of innovation, vertical social transition, entrepreneurship as well as poverty, crime and political opposition.
