Second Life in Ayvansaray
If you are thinking about moving to a new place in Istanbul, have a look at Ayvansaray. It is going to be one of the new fancy places, populated by Avatars designed by the muncipiality of Fatih. You feel like in the virtual world of Second Life, when you go there and have a look at their vision of how it is going to look like. Unreal looking houses with plastic surfaces in a wooden look, stereotyped people and- as for now- a whole district just newly dmolished. Half of the houses are standing, half are already teared down.
I was just startled, that the muncipiality of Fatih doesn’t care for a quarter being populated by the so called ‘normal needy people”. The ones they are usually talking for.
I can’t say, that I am a huge fan of shrines neither in Christianity nor in Islam. It has something weird seing people praying or wishing something in front of a tomb. But I always liked the old cemeteries in Istanbul.
So seing a reference to the shrine of a follower of the Prophet Mohammed on an old wooden house in Ayvansaray going to be demolished soon, was something like the manufactured foolishness of this Transformation city planning policy. May the curse of Ebu Şeybet Ül Hudri come on the ignorants, who planned this second life world just beside one of the most beautiful Mimar Sinan built mosques and the Ebu Şeybet Ül Hudri Tomb!
The sameTransformation is going on in Pierre Loti, the Taksim sqare and along Tarlabaşı Boulvard:
